Knight-Thon Delivers On #KTPromise
In their 21st year, The University of Central Florida’s Dance Marathon program, Knight-Thon, made a promise to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in raising $1.2 million. They made a promise to work hard for more than 136,000 children that are treated each year at Arnold Palmer Hospital. Through year-long fundraising efforts, late-night meetings, and endless amounts of dedication, Knight-Thon kept their promise and then some. With 1,350 student participants, they raised $1,250,961.21 all for sick and injured kids from Central Florida and beyond.
Their year-round fundraising efforts were celebrated during their 20 hour event, where students occupied their time with various games, special performances and entertainment, a morale dance that is played each hour to bring them together, and festive theme hours, such as Knight-Thon’s presenting sponsor Love’s Travel Stops’ “Out of this World” space-themed party. They also heard stories of impact from ambassador families that have been treated at Arnold Palmer Medical Center, bringing them back to why they were standing for so long – for the kids! It puts into perspective just how important each donation received throughout the year is to the critical care and treatment for every child who enters the doors of Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
As the largest student-run philanthropy on campus, and the University’s official philanthropy, Knight-Thon broke new records and reached new heights as a Miracle Network Dance Marathon program. Being the 7th largest in the country, Knight-Thon continues to grow exponentially each year, all while keeping their mission and promise first: to do everything for the kids.
